San Sebastian, Spain is a big city and there are many pretty neighborhoods to explore, each with its own personal history, as well as things to do and see. If you want to explore the neighborhoods of San Sebastian, you could start out in the Barrio de Amaral Viejo, a neighborhood that was born at the end of the 19th Century when the train tracks began to be built. Later you could visit the Barrio Antiguo, which was the first place that was populated in San Sebastian. Today it is a residential zone, and its near proximity to La Concha gives it a special something.
Without a doubt, the historic city center is the most important to see. The Barrio Centro de San Sebastian is a the must-see place during your holidays.
Other important neighborhoods are that of Ayete, a residential neighborhood where you will find the Palacio de Ayete, the Barrio de Alza which is the most populated in the city, the Barrio de Amara Nuevo where you will see the Multiusos de Anoeta; the Barrio de Ategorrieta-Ulia, with its impressionable houses, chalets, and Spanish villas, it is the most elite neighborhood in the city; Barrio Bidebieta, a very modern and dynamic place, Eguia (or the Barrio de Gross), where the Playa de Zurriola is situated and the Palacio Kursaal where there are many events and the Internationn Film Festival takes place.
The Zona de Igueldo is best known for the views from El Monte de Igueldo; Loyaloz Intxaurrondoz Martutenez Mirachonchaz Zubieta, and the historic city center. |
