San Sebastian, also known as Donostia, or the Bella Easo, is the capital of Gipuzkoa, in the Basque Country of Spain. It is a city that is in the province of Guipuzkoa, in the north of the Peninsula, and close to the border of France. The population surpasses 200,000 people, and over 400,000 in the greater metropolitan area. Its economy is based on tourism and commerce. Today, San Sebastian, Spain is one of the most preferred destinations in Europe. Its beauty, beaches, monuments, and film festival are some of the most important in the world. In its historic city center, one can find the Palacio de Miramar Palace, shopping centers, beautiful views from Monte Igueldo, and much more. Places such as the Bahia de la Concha and its historic city center with bourgeoisie architecture, built in the 19th Century, are visited annually by millions of people.
Something else that is plentiful in San Sebastian of the Basque Country (also known as Euskadi in the local language) is the ample offer of accommodation. There are several hotels of all categories, centric apartments for rent, houses and villas in privileged areas, and a large number of hostels in the historic city center of the city, or in the Casco Viejo, where one can also find all kinds of restaurants. Once can sample the delicious Basque cuisine such as pinxos or zuritos. San Sebastian is simply a paradise where you can enjoy your holiday eating fantastic meals, enjoying culturally rich visits to museums and other famous monuments, and of course shopping at some of the best places the province has to offer, and we must not forget the breathtaking beaches in the area where you can practice sports if you so chose.
